Reveal Healthy, Youthful Skin in NY
Chemical peels are an ancient cosmetic practice dating back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks all applied various chemical solutions to their face, peeling away the outermost layer of skin to reveal the healthy layer beneath. Combined with a medically advanced understanding of how the skin works, modern chemical peels offer patients the opportunity to enjoy radiant, blemish-free skin.
Featuring different solutions uniquely designed for diverse skin tones, textures, and conditions, the chemical peels at NY’s Hudson Dermatology are a popular option for women and men looking to refresh their skin.
Our team has decades of combined experience administering chemical peels, combining medical knowhow and experience with a passion for helping patients pursue their aesthetic goals. A chemical peel at NY’s Hudson Dermatology is far more advanced than those performed in Rome thousands of years ago, but it’s a continuation of an ancient tradition and desire: beautiful skin.
What Should I Expect During a Chemical Peel Session?
Your aesthetician will begin your chemical peel by cleaning the skin and covering your eyes and hair. They will then apply a specially formulated chemical solution to your skin using a brush or sponge. The amount of time the formula will be left on depends on the depth of the peel and condition being treated. Patients may experience a slight burning or stinging sensation during the first few minutes of treatment, but the chemical will then be neutralized and the formula removed from the skin. A cool soothing compress will be applied. The entire process takes around 30 minutes.
After your session, the treated skin should start to peel within 48 hours, and the peeling process may take between two and five days. Depending on the depth of the peel, patients may experience redness, mild swelling, and/or peeling on the affected area. The newly revealed layer of skin will be sensitive to light, so patients should avoid sun exposure following a chemical peel.
Depending on the depth of the peel, patients may enjoy the positive effects for anywhere from one to a few months. Some patients prefer to schedule chemical peel appointments every few months to maintain their results. Positive effects of chemical peels include reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, minimized acne breakouts, improvement of overall skin tone and texture, and fewer age spots and freckles.
What Type of Chemical Peels Does NY’s Hudson Dermatology Offer?
Hudson Dermatology offers several different chemical peels formulated to treat different skin types and concerns.
GLO Glycolic Peel
This exfoliant peel promotes skin repair and regeneration, evening the skin texture and tone, and reducing signs of aging.
GLO Modified Jessner
A synergy of effective acids helps reduce the appearance of melasma, freckles, acne, and mild cases of rosacea. This treatment also reduces fine lines, but may result in mild redness and peeling of the treatment area for a few days following the procedure.
GLO Retinol Peel
The unique blend of the GLO Retinol Peel helps patients shed dull skin, revealing the fresh, healthy, smooth skin beneath. Patients will require some downtime after this treatment.
GLO Salicylic Peel
This treatment is specifically formulated to clarify pores, treating oily and acne-prone skin.
Are There Other Options for Exfoliation?
Microdermabrasion and Dermalinfusion both work to remove the dry outermost layer of skin, but work in different ways and offer unique benefits for patients. Arrange a consultation to discover which exfoliation technique might be best for you.
