Botox and Restylane
can smooth your wrinkles.
What is Botox?
Botox relaxes specific facial muscles that cause wrinkles when they contract. Botox is injected directly into these muscles with a small needle, which causes minimal discomfort. No anesthesia is required for the procedure. Millions of people have been treated with Botox and have improved their appearance since the Food and Drug Administration approved Botox for cosmetic use in 2002.
How quickly does Botox work and how long does it last?
You usually see the effects within three to ten days. The treatment is not permanent; it lasts for about six months.
Which wrinkles can be reduced?
Botox is used to treat wrinkles of the upper half of the face, such as those on the forehead, frown lines and crow's feet around the eyes. If desired, the brow can also be raised.
What is Restylane?
Restylane was recently approved in the United States for treating facial wrinkles and folds. It is a non-animal based substance that already exists in the human skin. With age, this substance is lost in the skin, resulting in folds in the mouth area and thinning of the lips. Injecting Restylane in the skin restores the lost skin volume.
How quickly does Restylane work and how long does it last?
The result is seen the day after treatment. The treatment is not permanent and lasts for six to nine months.
Which wrinkles can be reduced?
Restylane is used to treat wrinkles and folds of the lower half of the face, such as the folds between the nose and mouth and those at the corner of the mouth. Lips appear fuller after treatment, and fine wrinkles around the mouth can be reduced.
